handmade doll For the big 1-0

Two years ago I made a doll for a friend's daughter.  My oldest daughter fell in love with and wanted one too.  I told her I would make one for her birthday, or Christmas or something...  It was so long ago.  In cleaning my studio recently I found the doll I had started for her.  I decided that I should really finish it for her upcoming birthday.  A few days later, when telling me what she would like for her birthday, she asked, "Do you remember that doll you were supposed to make for me?"  This girl never forgets.  Anything.  Ever.
So I have spent my evenings finishing the doll.  I used the Wee Wonderfuls Kit, Chloe, and Louise pattern by Hillary Lang.  You can see dolls made by her in her Flickr gallery.  Oh the hair she makes out of yarn!  My doll hair making is definitely lacking by comparison, but my children are completely unaware.
So here is Ashley and her new doll!
You can't tell in this picture, but she absolutely loves her!

The pattern is great.  Reading through the directions and getting a firm understanding of the process is advisable before beginning your doll.  The only things I wish she would add would be fabric recommendations for the body of the doll and more detailed pictures for attaching the hair.  I would imagine that you get more detailed information on constructing dolls in her book.
