New contributing author: Laura

Hi, I'm Laura!  I am excited to be joining Kristin in her blogging.  I have been blogging for just over three years now.  I started with my personal blog and then started a blog about my running (which hasn't gone so well, but I keep trying).  I have been sewing since I was five years old.  I was taught by mother, who was a wonderful seamstress.  She was taught by her mother, also a beautiful seamstress.  I managed to sew often as a teen.  I had Friday night sewing with my friend Laura (who worked at the same fabric store as I did in a different location oddly enough).  I only made clothing for myself at the time.  Now I sew mostly for others.  I love sewing clothes for my children.  I make a lot of bags and give them as gifts.  I love Amy Butler fabrics and patterns, as well as Heather Bailey and Sandi Henderson and many others.

We just moved to a new state and are still getting settled.  I should have some projects for the home in the near future.  I look forward to sharing my projects with you!

Contributing Authors

I would like to announce that miymdiary is now being authored by 2, yep 2 individuals!  I'm very excited about working with my friend Laura here at miymdiary and am really excited for you all to get to see the fantastic items she creates.

Laura helped me get my miym gears rolling when I met her in June 2009.  She has an abundance of make it knowledge as well as momming knowledge that I am grateful she is willing to share with us all.  Welcome to the miymdiary team!  I'm sooo glad you're here.

Make It Monday

I've got nuthin'.  Yep, guilty of injuring myself and now am required to take a sewing break.  You see, I've got some carpal tunnel, and I'm hurting pretty bad.  So right now, I'm on a sewing hiatus where new projects are concerned.  I will still be finishing up a few projects this week and I'll post when I've completed, but the new is out until my arm stops hurting so much and my hand is no longer tingling.

I guess that's what I get for hitting the ground running and never slowing down.  Watch this week for a tutorial on how to make a nursing pillow case and also for photos of the little hip skirts which are nearing completion after sitting on my sewing table without moving all weekend.

If you've got a make it monday to share, please comment and post a link to either you, or website you got your find from.  I love to see what everyone else is working on.

Happy Creating!

Little Hip Skirts

So, I'm a deadbeat mom.  Seriously.  I was supposed to have these super easy to make skirts made for my 3 daughters for Easter last week, and I still don't have them completed.

I think that the reason I don't have them done is because they're so easy.  I keep thinking, "that will take me all of an hour and half to make, I can do it first thing tomorrow."  But then, tomorrow comes and I still don't bother to sew together the already cut pieces.

I think that these are the cutest and if you wanna make one, you can click on this link, and It will take you directly to Favorite Things' website and you can order a pattern for yourself.

I'm telling you, so easy you'll procrastinate, but also, so gorgeous.  I'll post photos of my actual creations next week.

Happy Creating!

Make It Monday

Welcome to a new week around here.  I've got sooo many projects on my plate, I'm wondering how I'm going to get them all done.  But For Make-It-Monday, I wanted to feature a project I recently found and tested from none other than... (drumroll please) Prudent Baby.

This changing table pad cover might as well be straight out of a high end boutique, but the funny thing is, it's so stinkin' easy and inexpensive to make yourself.  Love It, Love It, Love It!!!

My thanks goes out to everyone over at Prudent Baby for their ingenius changing table pad cover and also the images seen here!  This pattern can also be modified to make fitted crib sheets or if you really wanted, any larger size sheet.

Happy Creating!!
